Curbing Challenges for the Launch of Amazonia and Sahara
Innovation drives PELINOVA®. This February PELINOVA® introduced Amazonia and Sahara to its materials collection. Amazonia, a bold crocodile texture offering the same exotic look as real animal skin leather without the environmental impact. And Sahara, a magnificent vintage two-tone grain redefining the limits of the genuine leather look.
The achievement of these finishes is a revolutionary opportunity for further texture development going forward, but it was not an easy feat. The pigments were difficult to replicate with each trial, and additional manufacturing steps such as color spray, printing and finishing presented an uncharted set of challenges. The exclusive use of waterborne coating also added the hurdle of durability. But PELINOVA® perseveres.

Amazonia and Sahara made a powerful debut at Hôtel Pozzo di Borgo for Paris Fashion Week 2025 in early March. Each appeared as an integral part of the GANNI Fall 2025 collection, as the brand returned for their second impressive show at Paris Fashion Week. Featured in bold boots, bags and coats, Amazonia and Sahara stunned the audience across the catwalk as a newly dynamic take on alternative leather.
Amazonia and Sahara Proud to be Selected for SS26 Trend Forum at Première Vision
PELINOVA® introduced these two new textures at global fashion event Première Vision Paris this February. A celebration of innovation, creativity and sustainability for the luxury fashion sector, this year’s February edition, themed Savoir-Faire, brought together thousands of companies reshaping luxury fashion. Among them, PELINOVA® stood out with the debut of textures Amazonia and Sahara as the two newest editions to its leather material collection.
Paving the way for textured and diverse next-gen leather materials, Amazonia and Sahara were honorably selected by Première Vision for the Spring/Summer 26 trend forum, catching the attention of many young designers and entrepreneurs enthusiastic about the potential applications for such innovative materials. Further, the debut of these materials has already sparked two confirmed projects with promising designers for PELINOVA® in the coming months.
The combination of leather fibers with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, in collaboration with Lenzing, gives these materials an undeniably unique and distinctive softness. The world has its eye on the future of PELINOVA®.
